Hi everyone!
Da_sweetthin is here again with her dose of what is hot!
In this age where glitzy cars and tales of the quest to belong to a higher social class are the order of most African soaps, Indigo, seeks to bring us something  new, by focusing on the inner travails of the music industry across the world, with a Nigerian twist.

  • Wana Udobang, who is a very popular radio OAP with Inspiration FM and host of the hugely successful Touching Lives.
  • Geoffrey Orji the winner of the just concluded Project Fame.

It also features highly-rated actor Baaj Adebule as the anti-her Desmond Okoye, Nollywood star Shawn Faqua and a myriad of exciting new talents including Nigerian indie rocker, Olaolu.

Episode One Synopsis: Myra Goodman is surprised to find her ex Desmond Okoye in her apartment when she gets in and tries unsuccessfully to get him out before Kassim Kassimu gets there. the plan doesn’t work and there’s a face off between the two men. Blur at British Summertime, Hyde Park, London (Gig Review)

So there was quite a lot going on over the weekend.  Fathers Day, Andy Murray winning Queens. Lewis Hamilton not going fastest in his little car.  Oh and there was the little matter of British Summertime in Hyde Park where a number of acts played including the likes of Pop Princess Kylie Minogue.  Well we didn’t bother with the full event, but we did go and see Brit Pop legends Blur.

Now I have always been a manic fan of Blur, the irreverence of them over the serious Oasis got me.  Musically they composed some great tracks, but some of this was lost at the time with the Gallaghers cleverly telling people they had to choose.  At the time, everybody wanted a piece of the Manchester scene and Oasis

THE IBEYI ALBUM: FACTS, MYTH, LYRICS, AND ALLEGORY – @ibeyiofficial

Amazing piece on Ibeyi’s work by my favourite prince ever!

Prince Adewale Oreshade's Blog

_new_Tw_gallery_img(1)THE IBEYI ALBUM: FACTS, MYTH, LYRICS, AND ALLEGORY – @ibeyiofficial

In discussing Ibeyi – the twins, and the album – I have decided to divide this essay to three parts. First part will highlight Nigeria’s peculiar state with respect to multiple births in the world, and what scientists think is the cause.

The second part will discuss the yoruba meaning of Ibeyi, the ibeyi tradition, its evolution, and how we Nigerians should embrace yorubas of other countries as our siblings. It will also discuss the true history of yemoja, sango, osun, and oya as it relates to the twins hospitality.

The third part will look into the lyrics of five of the songs in the Ibeyi album – Mama Says, River, Yanira, Oya, and Think Of You. I will be discussing the lyrics and my interpretation of the allegory in the music videos, as they relate to the Ibeyis actually…

Review of Audiojack – Stay Glued (The 2014 mixes)

Audiojack is an English electronic duo who met in Ibiza ten years ago. They presently play live on Ibiza Sonica Saturday’s @ 6pm CET and have been responsible for such electro movers as:

  • Polka dot dress
  • Get Serious
  • Night watch, just to name a few.

The guys have recently redone the mixes for the above track in the same order in which they were done two years ago when they were first released to us. This in turn means that Zombie Disco has also been working on his mix again among others! 😀
*Confetti*
Before you begin to listen to the new mixes, you could just sit back and listen to the original set from 2012, just to get into the groove of Techno-house if you are unfamiliar with it.
“Catchy, jazz-infused house music with a range…

Review of The Nomina EP by Simon Hinter

Simon Hinter is a German House producer signed to U.K label Tenth Circle records. This is his first offering with them. He has previously released work on PHIL, Midnight Shift, Amajin Records and Luv Unlimited.  His most acknowledged work (to my knowledge) prior to now is his Better Life EP produced while he was on PHIL Records in 2011.

Simon Hinter - Nomina EP Review Simon Hinter – Nomina EP Review

There are three tracks on the EP.

Regenmacher

Adhs

Cop.

I shall look at each track individually and then share my opinion on the entire EP ☺

Track 1.

Regenmacher is a German word which means rain maker. This track aptly starts with cymbals and percussion expertly blended with soothing melodic sounds and subtle changes in the arrangement, forming a sort of ‘sound painting’ where the listener begins to feel as though they were…
